Andy Lowrie is an artist born and working in Brisbane, Australia. He went to university at the Queensland College of Art where he majored in Jewellery & Small Object studies under the guidance of Elizabeth Shaw and Catherine Large. In 2012 he established a contemporary jewellery studio, Bench, with fellow graduates Clare Poppi, Katie Stormonth and Shanna Muston.
In 2011 he completed his graduate paper on craft and narrative traditions in Australian art and continues to make from the Bench studio.
The history of jewellery and small objects as artefacts and talismans of sentimentality, visual mementos and narrative documents informs his past and current practice.
